Inlays, Onlays and Crowns in One Appointment…No Problem!

If you have ever had a crown put on one of your teeth, you may remember having to have a bunch of gooey impression material placed in your mouth and then having to wear a temporary crown for a few weeks while the laboratory crown was being made. During that period of time you had to be very careful so as not to make the temporary come off. That would’ve required another visit(s) to the dentist to have it re-cemented or remade. Those days are gone!

We have the equipment to take a digital picture of your damaged tooth/teeth and use a variety of digital technologies  (Cad/Cam) to design a beautiful ceramic porcelain tooth-colored restoration. Once the restoration is computer designed, it is sent wirelessly to a milling machine in our office that makes something to exactly fit your tooth. It uses a solid block of strong porcelain (no metal). We then bond it (them) in place the same day. No need to come back a second time for additional numbing, drilling and prying off temporaries to deliver the laboratory product. This wonderful system is called CEREC.

A CEREC tooth restoration is not just convenient, it is also healthy. We can use strong tooth-colored materials to restore your tooth/teeth to their natural strength, function and beauty. These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth structure. This means when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates. This lessens the chance of a fracture during the very torturing cycle a tooth endures with heat, cold and pressure millions of times. These materials are mechanically and chemically bonded to your tooth so that Dr. Norton can conserve as much healthy tooth structure as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens and beautifies your tooth.

CEREC technology can also be used for veneers to go over chipped or discolored teeth and in some instances can be used to make a bridge to replace a missing tooth. Come see and experience the 21st century way to make a multitude of restorations for your teeth.
